Samba no Pe with Adriana Blanco - September 7
11am - 12:30pm
This is an all levels workshop focused on the Passista style of samba, that is, samba of the carnival schools of Rio de Janeiro. If you are new to samba, it is highly recommended you join one of our weekly group classes (Wednesdays at 6:15pm) in August prior to taking this workshop.
Adriana is the founder and director of the NC Brazilian Arts Project. Adriana's purpose is to accessibly share her passion for cultivating the mind-body connection through movement practices such as: Yoga, Capoeira and Samba no Pé. Adriana holds the official title of “Passista” with the 83 year old “Seria A” Samba School, G.R.E.S. Unidos de Bangu located in Rio de Janeiro. Adriana is currently mentored by the world renowned Alex Coutinho, Passista Director of the Rio de Janeiro Samba School: G.R.E.S. Paraíso do Tuiuti. Adriana holds the official honorable Title of “Muse” or “Musa” for the Seria A Samba School Lins Imperial. Historically, the title of “Muse” has not been offered to non-Brazilians, Adriana is deeply honored to fulfill this position and takes its significance seriously.
Adriana is mentored by Janete Silva from Silva Dance Company since 2017 and from Master teacher Nildinha Fonseca from the Balet Folclorico da Bahia for her study of Samba-Afro, Samba de Roda and simbology of Orixa dance. Lastly, Adriana is a Monitora level, (pre-instructor with permission to teach class) with the International Capoeira School -under the leadership of Mestre Esquilo and Contra-Mestre Zumbi.
Aerial Workshops with Circus Echo - September 13 & 14

Humble Straps
Pre-requisites: Must be able to invert and hold a tuck, pike and straddle inversion.
This is a mixed level workshop and all are welcome that have some aerial experience.Being able to invert and comfort in hanging inverted or upright is a must but beyond that this workshop is super scalable to the bodies in the room. We will begin with a gentle
warm up with a heavy focus on what constitutes a healthy warm up before beginning with conditioning drills on straps that will help you in all other areas of your aerial journey. This course is for those students that grave a deeper understanding of alignment and support in different hanging positions while getting in some yummy conditioning that is sure to leave your shoulders feeling worked but growing stronger!
Saturday, 9/14 at 11am - 12:30pm
Volution - Rolling Up & Rolling Down
Prerequisites: proficient in a double star and/or bee hive, comfortable in classic wheel down from s-wrap.
In this workshop we will break down what holds us on a vertical apparatus in open poses and use that information to move up and down the rope. Get ready because this course is brain and body intensive but super rewarding! This workshop can be a combination of fabric and rope.
Saturday, 9/14 at 1pm - 2:30pm
Drop it Like you Mean it
Prerequisites: must be able to climb and invert in the air on either side of the fabric as well as double crochet. It is helpful to know a front salto and star.
This workshop is for students that want a fuller understanding of drops than just memorizing the wraps and engaging before letting go. In this workshop you will learn how to control your rotation as well as understand the wraps in order to build your own.

Cheval Aerial Method Instructor Certificates
Upon successful completion of the practicum and evaluation process, trainees receive a Cheval Aerial Method Teacher Certificate verifying the number of hours of education completed and in which discipline. This certificate can be presented to studio owners and insurance companies as proof of education. The certificate is valid for 2 years after completion as best practices are constantly evolving in this industry. Renewal is intended to help instructors get the latest updates in safety and teaching standards.
Program Objectives
Participants study the art of teaching itself. Our program is grounded in the theory of multiple intelligences, meaning that different people learn in different ways. Students will learn multiple approaches to teaching movement arts; how to evaluate students in terms of their physical, mental and emotional strengths & weaknesses; safe spotting techniques; and curriculum development.
